Color Photographs

These fine art photographs belong to my series, I AM: For the Love of Nature. I’m a lifelong nature lover and feel graced by Mother Earth when she calls to me in the moment out in the wilderness to collaborate and make an image. Most of these images are direct responses to “calls to action” I heard in my head and my heart while out traveling in the American West — with a few additions from other locations. We face so many problems: climate change, MeToo, consumerism, pollution, aging. I want my response to be works of beauty, to attract rather than shame, to exist side-by-side rather than as a controlling or domineering influence. It is through seeing and feeling ourselves as natural parts of our world that we can discover self-acceptance and learn to love and protect the natural world, upon which we depend for our own survival.

Being nude is important to me. It allows me to stand in my own self-acceptance and to cast aside the artifice that separates me from the earth, from the water, from the judgments of mainstream culture. I want to belong and to express equanimity with my environment. I aim to share my version of the ‘female gaze’ and be present in my aging femininity for my own pleasure and self-expression. In the poems, I work out some of the conflicting issues and hope to give voice to concerns other may share from their own experience and history.

Sometimes I am torn between the color version and the black and white version — in that case I offer both.

I want viewers to find their own experience in the work, to engage with the work, to sort their own preferences, and hopefully, choose to collect my work. Details are available in the Shop. You’re also invited to subscribe to my email list for private offers.
